The difficult road ahead...

I have been attempting to construct some sort of map with business locations and any community areas pre-I496 to 'pinpoint the boundaries' that our focus point 1 topic has outlined, and let me just say how difficult that has been. Information on the internet is so scarce, and apart from background texts our class has already read through, outside of that is very limited. My search will continue, but I feel I will inevitably fall back on majority of the texts others have already investigated to find any substantial information. From the Matt Miller article, I was able to only pull about one business location for Lett's Fashion. I wanted to be able to find grocery stores, corner stores, small businesses, and other community areas to make a reconstruction of what it looked like (much like our interactive walk through we did for the first day of class). I know this is such a focused problem in Lansing MI in particular that I wasn't expecting thousands of websites, but any sort of maps, pictures, or anything from a search would have been really wonderful.
